Amelia's Wedding
10 May 09 - Attended Amelia's wedding... I was the Maid of Honour, and it was my first time with absolutely no knowledge whatsoever on the roles of being a Maid of Honour. What I DO know is to support the bride and make sure things go well for her. However, whether I did a good job is a question unanswered. I don't think I've done a good job though... Luckily I didn't screw anything up.
Anyway, on the night of the 9th, after returning from Malaysia, I went over to Amelia's place and spent the night there. The following day, we woke up at 5am and at 5.30am, the makeup artists arrived. The makeup artist (who happens to be a Taiwanese) did her makeup and hair, and at around 7am Jeff, the groom, arrived to 'fetch' the bride. Not long after we were off to Sengkang to Jeff's place. A tea ceremony was held at his place, and after that we had a rest watching cartoons on cable. After that, we returned to Amelia's place again and had rounds and rounds of tea ceremony with Amelia's relatives. The day session ended off with a lunch buffet at her place. There were lots of delicious food, though I am swimming in a pool of unfamiliar faces, I enjoyed my food (as always)...
And I caught the bouquet!! Even though there were just 2 of us catching it, and I've missed it exactly TWICE before I gingerly caught it. But I know it definitely doesn't mean I am next in line to be married. LOL...
The night ceremony was pretty grand, held at Orchid Country Club (in Yishun). I arrived a little after 6pm and went to Jeff and Amelia's room. They were getting ready, and the coordinators, emcees and photographer were there working. I followed them to the dinner hall and got myself started at the reception. I received guests and told them where to sit, and got them to leave their wishes and signatures for Jeff and Amelia.
And then there was the first march-in with cake-cutting. Then dinner was served. After that there was a second march-in with the champagne pouring. Some relatives and a few friends were being called up to toast. Vanessa, Pengli and I were amongst those being called... And then dinner continues.... The table that I was seated at only has 8 people, and the food being served were for 10 people. All of us were stuffed by the end of the 7th course. Lol...
Overall, it was a fun day. I wish Amelia and Jeff all the best and may they grow old together happily ever after~ :)
