An Enjoyable Sunday @ Cathy's
Woke up earlier on a Sunday to catch the right trains at the right time... to be at Mt Waverly station at 12.36pm for pickup by Ai-lin. Today, the Korean class peeps are invited to Cathy's house for a "Korean break-up pre-Xmas party". Not that we are breaking up, but next Thursday will be our last class for Level 6, and then followed by Christmas, therefore we will not be seeing a lot of each other by then. Korean 7 will only commence in February 2010. Therefore Cathy organized something at her place for all of us to have a little gathering.
Ai-Lin picked me, Daniel, So Yeon and our teacher Hye-ri from the station and we had a little drive to Cheltenham, where Cathy's house is. Oh my... I love her house! It is a 1960s "mansion", very very pretty, and I love the way she decorated her house! To the left wing of her house it belongs to her husband Ken, who is a music teacher. He has all sorts of musical instruments in there, mostly guitars, and also music production equipments and tons of scores. To the right wing is where the rest of the house are - the kitchen, a living area with a fireplace, a relaxing spot with her piano and computer, 3 cosy bedrooms at the far end, and a very nice bathroom. It is so great to own your own place because you can decorate all you can to make it cozy and comfortable! So far I love all the houses of my friends from Korean class! Owning your own place is far better than renting a place. I love my place, but then, it tends to get messy and unkempt, and no one really cares.
Cathy whipped up really delicious dishes for us. First, we had the typical Aussie (or maybe they are English) 'entrees' which they always snack on - crackers and dips. We had water crackers and chicken crackers dipped in different types of cheeses, chicken liver (I did not try that. Just didn't sound very appetising even though it looked good) and eggplant. Very nice! For our 'mains', there were really yummy marinated chicken drumsticks, baked potatoes, baguette with margarine, pork, beans, asparagus, 2 different types of salad (which I barely touched since one of them was TOMATO salad). Then our 'desserts' were a platter of fruits, home-made merigue (I LOVE THESE despite they were mostly SUGAR and egg-white!), diced up mangoes and strawberries to accompany the merigue. Afterwards, Ken made coffee and tea. So sumptuous!!!
The afternoon flew by so fast that I forgot that I got to report to work at 5pm! Actually last week I've already told Benise that I am expecting to be late this Sunday, however, I was not sure if she remembered. I called up saying that I will only be able to reach after 6pm and Benise was like "doesn't matter! As long as you are here!" LOL... Eventually I left Cathy's house with everyone else at 5.30pm. Reached work at 6.15pm.
Nathan was at the party~!!! Cute little toddler bonded really quick with Johnny - Cathy's pet dog. Johnny was such a friendly dog! I just have to pat him once and he's all over me! :) Cathy told me he was a lost dog... Apparently someone didn't want him before, and they found him and took him home... :'( I'm glad he has a really nice home with nice owners now!
Besides me, Ai-lin, Hye-Ri, Daniel and So Yeon, the others who went were Roland and his wife Chiria, Tony and his wife Mary (plus Nathan), Jennifer and Minako.

Finally... after licking and hopping onto everyone, Johnny felt tired and retired to his own little bed...

Apparently it's a mixture of grape and rice wine (i.e. white wine plus soju)
I've tried the 'lady' one with 14.5% alcohol. Tastes sweet. Not bad.
I'm going to try the original one soon, with 19.5% alcohol.
Probably will suit me much more.

I had a good time. Despite that, I felt very bitter inside. But I concealed everything and no one could see me. I hide myself very well and I know I did a good job. I have since improved much more even my close friends cannot see what I am thinking....
Back to work later... SIGH!! And it's already 2.30am and I'm not asleep yet! Must have slept too much on Saturday... Seriously my best escape is to sleep... weirdly... Since I am someone who can sleep at any time, I can forget my sorrows when I sleep.
When will the dark clouds disperse to reveal the sun again??
