Bye Bye Connex!

Finally! Connex bids farewell, and in comes Metro, Melbourne's newest train network.

Starting Monday 30 November, Melbourne trains will no longer be known as Connex, but as Metro. Nothing has actually changed much, but so far, it seems like trains are more on-time than before, though reports states that there were cancellations on Monday itself due to some reasons. Luckily my train lines weren't affected. There still will be a long way to go since they have just started, but I am sincerely hoping - and I am sure that Melburnians will be too - that there will be a great improvement to the network here.

Connex is actually a local company but the brand is from France. Metro will be a Hong Kong network operating here (same concept as per Connex). As for the trams, they will be changing to Keolia (also from France), however, they will save on marketing and re-labelling brands, therefore "Yarra Trams" will still be used. Honestly, France has a very good transportation system, therefore I do not understand why Connex suck so much! The only reason I can think of is - the local people here who works for them.... Is that really so?

It is kind of contradicting since customer service officers wear their new uniforms, but the trains and signages at train stations still bare "CONNEX". I suppose it will take a while to change everything...

I am glad Connex is gone! They did so badly to Melbourne's transport!
