에덴의 동쪽

56 Episodes of <에덴의 동쪽> (East of Eden), all swallowed in a month. This is a famous 2009 drama in Korea, and one of the reasons that I can see is that they have all the big names in the casts...

Song Seung Heun is definitely a big one. He's the male lead. Others like Yoon Joon Hoon, Lee Yeon Hee, Lee Da Hae, Han Ji Hye, Yoo Dong Gun and Dennis Oh are all big names in Korea. Very attractive casts they have lined up for the drama.

It's actually a meaningful drama, however, for the first half of the drama, it is SO MELODRAMATIC that even the patient me found it hard to swallow.

The crying was so intense that I could simply turn away to do my own things whilst waiting for the next scene to load. And typical Korean dramas always depicts - a love so intense yet the pair cannot be together - was too much for me to take. I can't describe how glad I am when the second half of the drama picked pace.

The drama will be about two men whose fates are crossed from the very first day that they were born. Both men were born in the same hospital. When he was a teenager, Lee Dong Chul witnessed the death of his father. From then on he promised to seek revenge on the man who caused his father's death, Shin Tae Hwan. But unbeknownst to everybody is the fact that Dong Chul's younger brother, Dong Wook, was switched at birth with Tae Hwan's son, Myung Hun. Dong Wook grows up to become a prosecutor and vows to help his brother seek revenge. But what happens when they find out that they're not brothers? What will Dong Chul do when he finds out that his real brother was raised by Shin Tae Hwan and that the brother that was beside him all these years is the son of his enemy?

I can't say I didn't enjoy the drama though. There are lessons to be learnt in it actually. If only it wasn't that draggy....
