I am in KOREA!

My very first night in Korea, and I must say, this place feels more like home than Singapore. Honestly.

Hong Kong was fine. Despite that I get around so easily as if I've lived there before, and speaking Cantonese perfectly like a native (minus the accent), I didn't feel that at home there as compared to the feeling as when I arrived in Korea and having some difficulties with my pretty bad Korean (and Koreans do not speak English much). Yes, after arriving here, I realized that my Korean isn't as strong as I've thought. Yes, I managed to ask my way, but then, having to face native Koreans with their native tongue, when they shot fast Korean at me like a machine gun, I really faced buffer time before I can answer, but most likely full of grammatical errors.

However, people in Korea are pretty friendly. Taxi drivers are pretty helpful, even though they do kinda look unfriendly at the first impression (one of them even gave me free Korean lesson!). People seem really orderly and well-mannered, which is so much different from HK and Macau, where the people there are quite rude and they really like to push each other around. The serviced apartment "Ulji-Ro CO-OP" was very basic and small, but clean, and with free internet access! Nice!~

It's just my first night here, and I am already looking forward for the next 10 days. Called Subong and Midouri when I arrived to let them know I am here, but they urged to me to join them and their friend for a drink. So I went. In the end, the 3 of us were at a 술집 (alcohol-house) in Jongno, eating kimchi seafood pancake and drank authentic Korean rice wine. Very nice! I haven't had my dose of alcohol the days I was in HK therefore I was really happy to have some!

Have to turn in now... It's 3.13am in Korea! Haven't slept so late for the past few days in HK. I must say I have been VERY disciplined by going to bed by 12.30am every night, and waking up by 9am. Slept quite early, wake up early, and with sufficient sleep - something I NEVER do when I am on holiday. I wonder where I should head to first tomorrow?? I have my subway pass already, so I guess anywhere is fine... Shall make up my mind when I wake up tomorrow! 잘자!!
