Korean Seoul Mini Get-Together

Despite having worked so hard, 7 days a week, I still made time for my friends when I can... However, I needed to take tonight off because it is the only night the others can make it, and I thought I'd rather catch up with them rather than go to work.

Dinner was at Korean Seoul which is on Little Bourke's Street between Elizabeth and Queen Streets. I haven't met Brian for nearly 2 years. And the main purpose of meeting him today is to meet his gf, and they are planning to get married soon. I thought I should at least show up since in the past he used to help me in many ways, such as being a great listener, and letting me practice driving with his car to help me get my driving licence. Therefore I tried to get my Sunday night off and Mr. Manager approved (reluctantly). Brian now co-owns a restaurant in Langwarrin and is still a chef.

Besides Brian, mutual friends like Eva and her husband Alvin with darling little Zoe, also came along... I got to know Brian's gf Jenny, and his roommate Gary. Alvin and Eva kept trying to set me and Gary up, but honestly, I hate people doing this to me... 1) I am not desperate for a relationship, and I am still recovering from the previous one. 2) I don't mind making friends with PRC guys, but not going out with one; 3) I just don't like being set up. Who I meet and who I like is my own freedom of choice. I choose based on my own feelings and being set up will only turn me off.

However, I understand that their intentions are not bad, just that I've never told them before I hate people setting me up. Therefore I made friends with Gary, but I didn't play along with them.

Zoe made me very happy. She's definitely my favorite darling little 'niece'.

There was also a Seafood stonepot fried rice but I forgot to snap photos of it... I also forgot to snap photos of dumplings, spring rolls and other side dishes... I was late, therefore we all started eating soon after I arrived. Lots and lots of food and we felt so full after that!

The night ended early because there was Zoe and she sleeps early... Anyway I'm feeling really fatigue as well therefore I wanted to head home straight after dinner too... We parted at Melbourne Central station.

The reason why I was feeling fatigued is not just because of working very hard... It's also because I've been 'chasing' this HK drama because it was just so interesting~ "与敌同行" or "Last One Standing" was a pretty good thriller and it intrigued me enough to keep on following it up.

Roger Kwok (郭晋安) did really well as a psycho baddie. And Kevin Cheng (郑嘉颖) is drop-dead HANDSOME! The story is about how Yin (Roger) killed the stepfather of Hei (Kevin) and then framed him for it, therefore making Hei spend 10 years in jail even though he was innocent. 10 years later, Hei came out of jail, and seek revenge. However, Yin concealed his evil-ness really well and had everyone's trust. When things didn't work out, Hei became a 'puppet', or a player, and tried to be close with Yin and gaining his trust. Soon enough, he found out that Yin is cheating money from his family and invest them in some dishonest and illegal deeds. Bit by bit, he revealed Yin's true face, and retrieve his innocence back.

I swallowed the entire 22-episodes within a week. Sacrificed a few sleeps to finish it...

Actually, after talking to Mr. Manager, I realized he's not so bad after all...

Actually, what he has been trying to say has been right, and I saw his true intentions, which weren't bad at all...

Honestly, no one is willing to talk to him. He doesn't know anything that is really going on. He can only guess based on his own observations and our body language. And he appreciates that I tried to talk to him. Cuz according to him, "our problems (at work) are his problems" and he is responsible to solve them for us.

And for the first time in my whole working experience in Sozai, we went shopping together at Coles to get some drinks for the restaurant... And for the first time we actually talked about other things. He told me his dream and I told him mine. He asked me why I wanted to work so hard, so I told him about dreams about going Korea. It is true, but that is just ONE of the reasons. But it doesn't matter... And he drove me home too, after I told him about my concerns about safety late at night.

Maybe I should accept him a little bit more. As a manager, he shoulders a lot more pressure than anyone of us, and he is someone who takes his job seriously. That explains the stern look and unfriendly aura. I think I should stop being afraid of him and learn from him. He has skills and knowledge he can impart, which will be beneficial to me.

I hope we can all eventually be friends. I like to be friends with everyone, and not being mere colleagues...

hmm... setting you up for date is not a bad idea. At least you know tat someone out there does care for you.
anyway, if you dun like tat idea den i think you should juz voice it out is a subtle way to your fren, ok?
Clarice said…
it probably isn't a bad idea, but to me it doesn't work for me...

my friend just called me and asked me how i find the guy... and if it's ok to give my phone no and the 2 of us to go out. she said the guy is interested in me. i told her, i am totally fine being friends, but anything beyond that, NO.

i know he's not the one anyway.. and i haven't got over my him... anyway, i wouldn't want to start a relationship. why start when it's gonna end anyway? and if i'm going to lose someone, i'd rather stay single.
