Visit to: ~Tulip Farm; ~William Ricketts Sanctuary; ~Mt.Dandenongs
YAY~~ Finally can go on a trip~ Initially I intended to go for the Tulips Festival with my classmates, however, out of all my classmates I've asked to go, one by one says they have something on and can't make it, so in the end, only Candy and I are the ones confirmed going. So I roped in 3 other colleagues, who aren't Monash students, but by just paying $4 more they can join the trip too. So... altogether, there were 5 of us for the trip... the more the merrier!
Anyhow, Saturday 23 September 06, met at Caulfield at 8.45am, and it's about a little over an hour's drive to Dandenongs, where the Tesselar Tulip Festivals are at. When we alight the bus, we saw one huge field of tulips, of different colours - Yellow (my personal favorite!), pink, purple, red, white, dark pink, light yellow, mix of yellow and red..... Magnificent view~ So colourful~ I like!
It was the Dutch festival in conjunction with the tulips festival as well. Some of those working there were dressed in Dutch costumes, and they were selling Dutch pancakes! But the queue was TOO LONG for us to queue and try. I wanted to try one cuz I heard it's good... That's really too bad.

Couldn't help but notice these blue flowers... I thought they were really pretty!
After spending some time at the tulip farm, our next stop is to a small town name Olinda, where we stopped to have lunch. We didn't have lunch, but shopped at a little shop selling wind chimes, telescopes, little accessories, card games, masks, carpets, chess boards, scarves... etc... u name it~ very interesting to look at.
Next stop: William Ricketts Sanctuary, located on Mt. Dandenong, where we can see displays of sculptures of Aboriginal figures set in the natural environment of the Dandenong Ranges. All the sculptures were made by William Rickettes, all out of clay, fired to 1200 degrees centigrade, then placed in the forest scene. Very nice indeed, but kinda 'eerie' in a way. The sculptures look so real and live!

The last stop for today will be to the summit of Mt. Dandenong, where we can view Melbourne City from afar. It was just a brief 20minutes stop, for a quick photo. I've always wanted to go there, but haven't got a chance to. Melbourne City is soooo TINY and so FAR away from Mt. Dandenong. It's like a bluish grey imagery view somewhere in the skies. And it was chilly up there too. Only Anson and I still looked around in the cold. The rest of the girls found it too cold to handle and went back to the bus.

For dinner, Anson, Nini, Stephanie and I went to "Jin Wei Fu", located at Tooronga (Glen Waverly line). Too bad we didn't have a booking beforehand, and that place was BUSY! The people there said we have until 7.30pm to finish, cuz there were bookings then. But still we have more than an hour to savour our hot pot dishes... Really nice. What really was yummy was the "kou shui ji" ("saliva" chicken??). According to my Chinese friends, that was very authentically made, and I think it is too, cuz it is really really good! It was spicy, and very tender. Highly recommended!
They call this the 'yuan yang guo'. One side's the spicy soup base, the other one is the normal one...
Stephanie's my new colleague. She's nice, and she can really talk. And she's older than us! Can't see that from her looks!

But I'm a little too tired from Friday night's work though... Imagine, I reached home well past midnight, and slept at 2am, having to wake up by 7am again...
Anyhow, there are still MANY photos I'm awaiting from Candy's camera, which I'll post some of them here when I get them from her. There's group photos, more photos of me and Anson and Candy, and also with this Dutch lady in her costume... and many more~ My camera sucks! I don't like the way some of my pics turned out. Time to change to a new one! Can't wait to see those really nice ones in Candy's camera!
