Scrap Mobile Phones. Embrace FACEBOOK!
We are probably living in an era of not just technological advancement and its rule over our lives, but specifically, being ruled by the most phenomenal epic ever invented on the world wide web - FACEBOOK.
Why? Everyone's on it, it seems. Everyone's talking about it. And everyone is hooked. Of course, it doesn't have to mean every SINGLE one of us, but yeah, a fair amount of people are....
Why still have our mobile phones?? Save the convenience bit as we can bring it along everywhere. If facebook is on our mobiles (which they do now!), what's the difference? It's just replacing bulkier laptops to a phone, but the main frenzy is not on the device, but only on one particular program. Perhaps in near future mobile phones aren't gonna be the 'IT' thing anymore.
Some reasons why we can chuck the phones into the bin:
- People whom you have lost touch perhaps 10 years ago comes finding you and request to be your friend on Facebook. You get to 'reunite' with primary school friends, perhaps even kindergarten friends! And vice versa - you see someone you know from 10 years ago and then add them.
- People who has your phone number never text you much, but chose to leave messages on your wall/superwall/fun wall etc
- You can have ultra fun over frequent dinners with all these friends, however, you do not own any form of their contacts, EXCEPT Facebook.
- You receive more notifications on Facebook than SMS-es on your phone.
- You have more contacts on Facebook than in your phone book.
- Facebook offers virtual pets, online games, virtual gifts, music, chat, photo albums, hug friends... everything for FREE. It's comforting to know that since everything these days has the $ attached to it...
- The 'Friends you may know' tool leads you to more long-lost friends. Tell me, which mobile phones can connect like that??
- You can spy on people LEGALLY, depending on what people want to share.
- People don't ask you for your contact number anymore, other than for official purposes. New friends usually ask for your Facebook account instead.
- You can make new friends without getting a slap across the face. Can you just call a random number and say "Hi can we be friends?" ??
- You can naturally avoid people or be anti-social without people raising eyebrows at you. How many times can you reject a call without getting all suspicious?
- One of your 'daily visits' when you go online is Facebook. Perhaps you even load the website before checking emails and reading the news.
- The general summary that it is definitely much easier and more efficient + effective to stay in touch this way... least to say, cost saving, too.
- Simply, it just offers much more FUN.
To a certain extent, I rate myself as being pretty 'hooked' onto Facebook. I will go on it every day, though I might not have done anything new, I will still go on it to check on friend requests, messages, new photos, status updates etc... And what I've said is true: I might get 10 or more notifications on Facebook in a day, but maybe only 1 SMS a day. How pathetic is that!
So the next time you left your mobile phone at home, fret not! Cuz perhaps mobile phones aren't gaining as much popularity as Facebook does! ;)
