Moved
And so I moved to my new place.
And the best bit? I am living by myself! I have the whole space to myself. No need to accommodate and tolerate. No need to argue where the cloth should be placed, or when the pots and pans need to be washed and stored away. No more fighting for the toilet/bathroom. No sharing. It's all about me and my rules. I make my own rules!
Not that all those really happened to that extent, or caused any unhappiness (I am quite accommodating for the sake of harmony), I just appreciate my 'Me' time in my personal space.
The worst bit? Parting with Ibi. And I am not taking that very well. I miss her terribly, and I feel so empty without her purring on my lap, or sleeping beside me on my bed. Sigh! Every morning I wake up thinking that she may be beside me or in the room somewhere. But no, she is not here anymore....
The whole move threw my world upside down. It was less than 8 months since my last move, and I had only just settled into the (now) old place, but I had to pack and re-orientate myself again. The good thing about this move is that I can filter out further what I do not need and chuck them out, or donate them. I've thrown out so many things I can easily make a fortune if I were to sell them. I have now moved into a MUCH smaller place, so I really cannot afford to keep all those things I've failed to throw out over the years! As I unpack at this new place I am still filtering things out. I may have to sell those I've filtered out to get some cash back though!
My new place is a renovated one bedder in a really old building. But the inside made up for the slightly dingy stairway and the fact that I had no balcony or carport. Though there are mostly good things, I shall start with the ones that irks me: 1) The hot water is enough for a quick shower for ONE person which means I will risk running out of hot water during my shower; 2) The toilet seems a little blocked too, and didn't help when I tried to use caustic soda to flush the clog out. Agent hasn't been promptly responding to my emails either; 3) Electric stove instead of gas stove confused the hell outta me - I have used a gas stove ALL my life, so I really don't know what to expect with an electric one; 4) No waste pipe for laundry taps means I need to link the pipe to my bathtub - not ideal! 5) The security doors are not working, and I am shocked no one in the block said anything! Apparently it has been broken for years until I came in and demanded repair. I mean, it said on the ad it's a SECURED building, so there is no reason why the doors need no keys to open! I am trying to get all these sorted out for the place to truly be a home I can happily go back to.
Of course, there are good things too, and the best thing ever is that my unit is in a super PRIME location. I am near everything - 2 minutes out to High Street (tram #6), 5 minutes to St. Kilda Road (many trams out there, and 2 of them goes to work which is another 5 minutes away), 3 minutes to Punt Road (another main road, and I can take a bus there to work too), 5 minutes to Greville Street (where the restaurants and pubs are), 5 minutes to Prahran Station (I am back on the Sandringham line, this time much close to the city just 3 stations away), 5 minutes the other way to Malvern Road (where more shops and restaurants are), 10 minutes to Chapel Street (where the action is - restaurants, bars, supermarkets, shops, gyms etc). If I need to go the hospital, Alfred Hospital is another 5-10 minutes away. I am facing a playground, and if I walk further down I will come to Fawkner Park. I can't ask for a better location! However, I am also paying for the convenience. I am paying more rent now than before, but I guess it is reasonable given the advantages.
Barely a week since I've moved, so I still have heaps to iron out before I can really settle down. Recently I have been emotionally drained and stressed as well. Other than moving house, I am also torn between buying a house (something that I have been planning), and also potentially live in Korea for 6-12months. The latter has been one of my biggest dream for a long time, but I have failed to fulfill it. The closest I've come to fulfilling it was my 2 months stay in Korea 2 years ago. If I do that, I will not be able to buy a house, and if I buy a house I will not be able to go to Korea. I am so torn, but I cannot afford to give up my job and the prospect of buying a house because having a house is just so important! I am looking at possibilities that I can do both together, but that will mean that I need to do some serious saving up before I can possibly do so!
Then, there is Ibi. I miss her company so much... I was so worried for her and her move with my housemate because cats take time to leave their comfort zone and adapt to new surroundings. I was told that she was so stressed out with the move she ran away, but eventually was found and then she hid under the sofa refusing to come out, or eat. Now she has started to eat, but she isn't herself. Poor Ibi... I wish I can be there to cuddle her and give her many many smooches again! Ibi has seriously made me feel so warm and loved, especially those times when we were both home alone and she depended on me so much, she basically hogged my lap and slept with me almost everyday... I have totally fell in love with this little feline friend of mine! I am considering getting my own cat, but I really cannot commit right now. Not before I can be sure what my directions are. I don't want to buy a cat/pet and then neglect it!
Hopefully I will get everything sorted out by this weekend. It is a long weekend too (Monday is Victoria's labour day) so hopefully I have more time to do this. And I need to rest up as well because I have been so stressed and not having had enough rest. Anyway, it is off to bed for me now! TGIF!!
